Oklahoma Man Convicted of Killing Two People and Dog in Wynnewood Double Homicide

Corey Durrell Jackson

WYNNEWOOD, Okla. - An Oklahoma man has been convicted of two counts of first-degree murder in the 2024 shooting deaths of a man and woman at a Wynnewood-area home, where investigators also found a dog shot to death.

A Garvin County jury found Corey Durrell Jackson guilty Sept. 18 of two counts of first-degree murder and one count of cruelty to animals, according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.

The jury recommended life in prison on the murder convictions and an additional year for the animal cruelty conviction.

The case dates to May 31, 2024, when Garvin County sheriff's deputies were sent to conduct a welfare check at approximately 9:30 a.m. at a residence near Indian Meridian Road and East County Road 1680 in Wynnewood.

Deputies entered the property and found Danny Daniel, 62, and Destinie Dalstead, 39, dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

A dog was also found dead at the property with gunshot wounds.

The Garvin County Sheriff's Office requested assistance from OSBI, and special agents joined deputies in processing the scene and investigating the killings.

Investigators ultimately identified four suspects in connection with the case. OSBI agents arrested Jackson along with Keshun Diontay Dotson, Marcus Allen Parker and Neal Samuel Empy.

The information released by OSBI did not provide the current status of the cases against Dotson, Parker and Empy or describe each defendant's alleged role in the killings.

The investigation involved assistance from law enforcement agencies in both Oklahoma and North Texas, including the Dallas, Grapevine, Colleyville and Denton police departments. The U.S. Postal Inspection Service, Drug Enforcement Administration and Garvin County Sheriff's Office also assisted.

Jackson's jury verdict followed a prosecution by the District 21 District Attorney's Office.
