TULSA, Okla. - A 36-year-old man has been jailed after Tulsa police say he shot a man, fired toward vehicles and a restaurant filled with employees, then opened fire on officers before police shot him.

Dion Patterson was booked into the Tulsa County Jail on several counts of assault with a deadly weapon, according to the Tulsa Police Department.

The incident began around 6:45 p.m. Thursday, September 3rd, at Rozay's Wingz near 51st Street North and Peoria Avenue.

Police said Patterson and another man pulled into the restaurant parking lot and began fighting. During the confrontation, Patterson pulled out a gun, and the two men struggled over the weapon before Patterson shot the other man in the foot.

The wounded man attempted to escape in his truck as Patterson continued shooting at him, according to police.

As the victim pulled onto the street, his truck struck a car carrying a driver and three children. Police said Patterson continued firing in the direction of both vehicles, but no one in the car was injured.

The shooting victim then ran back toward Rozay's Wingz. Patterson chased him while firing toward the restaurant, where employees were still inside, police said.

The victim suffered another gunshot wound to his torso while running.

Two Tulsa police officers arrived as Patterson entered the restaurant's lobby. By then, the wounded man and employees had taken shelter inside a bathroom.

Police said officers encountered Patterson and ordered him to show his hands. Instead, Patterson pulled his gun and fired twice at the officers.

Neither officer was struck. They backed away and waited for additional officers to arrive.

As more officers took positions outside, police said they heard additional gunfire and screaming from inside the restaurant. Investigators said Patterson was firing toward the room where employees had barricaded themselves.

Officers entered the restaurant and encountered Patterson at the end of a long hallway. Police said they again ordered him to show his hands.

According to the department, Patterson aimed his gun at the officers, prompting two officers to fire. Patterson was struck twice.

Officers recovered Patterson's gun and took him into custody. He was hospitalized with injuries police described as non-life-threatening before being booked into jail Thursday afternoon.

The original shooting victim was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
