Oklahoma City Opens New $11.8M Clubhouse at Lake Hefner Golf Club

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — City leaders officially opened a new clubhouse at Lake Hefner Golf Club, marking a major upgrade to one of Oklahoma City’s popular recreation destinations.

Mayor David Holt and Ward 2 Councilperson James Cooper joined Parks & Recreation officials for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the clubhouse, located at Lake Hefner Golf Club.

The new facility is an 18,000-square-foot, two-story building featuring panoramic views of Lake Hefner and the surrounding golf course. It includes a golf shop, locker rooms, office space, and a grab-and-go dining area on the first floor.

The second floor houses Maxwell’s on the Lake, a full-service restaurant and bar overlooking the North Course, along with two indoor golf simulator bays.

“Lake Hefner offers a perspective you can't find anywhere else — sky, water, and fairways that seem to go on forever,” said Melinda McMillan-Miller, director of Oklahoma City Parks & Recreation.

Officials said the clubhouse is designed to serve not only golfers but also as a gathering space for the broader community.

The $11.8 million project was funded through the city’s 2017 General Obligation Bond program. Voters have also approved an additional $13.5 million in the 2025 bond program to expand the facility, with construction expected to begin in 2028. Plans for the expansion include a cart barn and a banquet hall. The existing clubhouse will be demolished once the second phase is complete.

Grand opening events included a simulator showcase, a golf tournament, and the return of Sunday brunch service at the new restaurant.

City officials said the project is part of ongoing efforts to enhance public amenities and recreational opportunities across Oklahoma City.
