BOKCHITO, Okla. — Authorities are investigating an officer-involved shooting that left a man dead Monday evening in Bokchito, according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.
The incident began around 6:45 p.m. on April 13, 2026, when officers with the Bokchito Police Department located 46-year-old Teddy Kelsey walking along Impson Street. Officers determined Kelsey had an active arrest warrant through the Choctaw Tribal Courts.
According to investigators, when officers approached, Kelsey brandished a firearm and fired his weapon before fleeing on foot.
Authorities said Kelsey ran to his residence near Ballpark Road and East Street. A baseball game was taking place nearby, prompting officers from multiple agencies to secure the area for public safety.
Bokchito Police, along with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, then approached the residence. Officials said Kelsey again displayed a firearm, leading to an officer-involved shooting.
Medical personnel provided life-saving measures, but Kelsey was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other injuries were reported.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is leading the investigation. Agencies assisting include the Bokchito Police Department, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Choctaw Nation Lighthorse Police Department, and the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office.
