IDABEL, Okla. — A McCurtain County couple has been arrested on embezzlement charges following an investigation into the alleged theft of more than $3.27 million from two local businesses.
According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), 37-year-old Bria Davey and her husband, 37-year-old Zane Davey, turned themselves in to the McCurtain County Jail on October 8, 2026.
The investigation began after the Idabel Police Department received a report on June 4, 2026, alleging that an employee of McCurtain Cinema and Gasquatch, a local gas station, had embezzled money from both businesses.
The employee was identified as Bria Davey, who had worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for both businesses since March 2021.
The Idabel Police Department requested assistance from the OSBI on June 5, 2026.
During the investigation, financial records revealed numerous unauthorized checks issued from the businesses. The owner of both establishments also discovered that business credit cards had been linked to Cash App without authorization, with multiple transactions involving accounts associated with Bria Davey and her husband.
OSBI special agents determined that more than $3.27 million had been embezzled from the two businesses between March 2021 and May 2026.
Based on the evidence gathered during the investigation, the McCurtain County District Court issued arrest warrants for both Bria and Zane Davey.
Both individuals surrendered to the McCurtain County Jail on October 8 and face embezzlement charges.
The OSBI thanked the Idabel Police Department for its continued assistance throughout the investigation.
Both defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
