TULSA, Oklahoma - A Tulsa man was arrested this week after investigators said surveillance footage helped identify him in connection with a robbery at an east Tulsa vape shop.

According to the Tulsa Police Department, officers responded just after 8 p.m. on May 11 to a strong-arm robbery at the Smoke and Vape Shop in the 11300 block of East 21st Street.

Investigators said a male suspect went behind the counter, repeatedly shoved a store employee to the ground, and stole approximately $1,200 worth of Coastal Clouds Delta and Geek Bar Raspberry vape products before fleeing on foot.

The following day, robbery detectives obtained surveillance footage from a nearby business that showed the suspect running to the Worthington Apartments complex on 117th East Avenue.

According to police, the suspect removed his ski mask just before entering an apartment, allowing detectives to clearly identify his face.

On May 21, detectives conducting surveillance located the suspect, identified as Dontayvious Friday.

Authorities said patrol officers attempted to stop Friday, but he ignored commands and tried to run before being taken into custody.

Detectives later executed a search warrant at the apartment and recovered empty vape packaging matching the brands reported stolen during the robbery.

Police said Friday was also found carrying two Coastal Clouds vapes, a Geek Bar vape, and the black ski mask investigators believe he wore during the crime.

Friday was booked into the David L. Moss Criminal Justice Center on a charge of second-degree robbery.
