TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide after officers conducting a welfare check found a man and woman dead inside a south Tulsa home Thursday afternoon.

According to the Tulsa Police Department, officers from the Riverside Division responded at approximately 3:45 p.m. on June 25 to a residence near the intersection of East 51st Street and South Boston Place.

The welfare check was requested after co-workers of 39-year-old Kristina Schwaighofer became concerned when she failed to report to work.

When officers arrived, they could see a man lying on the floor inside the residence with a handgun nearby. Officers entered the home through a window and found Schwaighofer deceased in a chair in the living room.

The man, identified as 35-year-old Kyler Young, was also found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives believe Young fatally shot Schwaighofer before taking his own life.

Police said the case is being investigated as an apparent murder-suicide. Detectives are continuing to investigate what led to the shooting, and authorities said no other individuals were involved.
