TULSA, Okla. - A 37-year-old man was arrested Monday after a Lyft driver reported he sexually assaulted her while she was attempting to drive him from a Tulsa hospital, according to police.

Tulsa Police officers responded to a sexual battery call at approximately 6:57 p.m. on July 27 after the driver called 911 from inside her vehicle.

According to investigators, the victim had arrived at a hospital near East 21st Street and South Utica Avenue to pick up a passenger through the Lyft app. Police said 37-year-old Michael Crook entered the front passenger seat but refused to verbally confirm he was the person she was there to pick up.

Believing he had just been discharged from the hospital, the driver began the trip.

Police said shortly after leaving the hospital driveway, Crook began touching himself and attempted to touch the driver.

The victim stopped the vehicle and repeatedly demanded that Crook get out, but investigators said he refused and continued moving toward her.

While still inside the vehicle, the driver called 911. The Tulsa Police helicopter directed responding officers to the vehicle's location.

Officers arrived, removed the victim from the situation and took Crook into custody.

According to police, Crook initially refused to identify himself. Officers later returned him to the hospital, where staff told investigators he had repeatedly attempted to grope a nurse while being discharged earlier that day.

After being taken into custody, Crook complained of chest pains and was transported to another hospital for medical clearance before being booked into the Tulsa County Jail on a charge of sexual battery.

The investigation remains ongoing.
