TULSA, Okla. - A Tulsa man with a lengthy history of domestic violence convictions has been sentenced to nearly four years in federal prison for assaulting his girlfriend and attempting to pressure her into withdrawing her allegations, U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson announced.

U.S. District Judge Sara E. Hill sentenced 30-year-old Jordi Monroe Ridgebear to 45 months in federal prison after he pleaded guilty to domestic assault in Indian Country by a habitual offender and witness tampering by corrupt persuasion.

In addition to the prison sentence, Ridgebear will serve three years of supervised release after completing his term of incarceration.

According to court documents, the assault occurred in 2024 after Ridgebear and his girlfriend had been drinking together. The two began arguing, prompting the victim to call 911 for help.

During the emergency call, the victim can reportedly be heard telling Ridgebear to get off of her and repeatedly asking him to leave. Court records also state that Ridgebear can be heard threatening to hit her.

When Tulsa police officers arrived, the victim told investigators that Ridgebear shoved her, wrapped his hands around her throat, pulled her hair and punched her during the assault.

Officers arrested Ridgebear at the scene on domestic violence charges.

Federal prosecutors said Ridgebear continued trying to interfere with the case after being booked into jail.

According to court records, he contacted the victim numerous times, urging her not to cooperate with investigators and asking her to sign an affidavit recanting her allegations in hopes the charges would be dismissed.

Prosecutors also said Ridgebear attempted to persuade the victim not to testify before the federal grand jury.

Court records show Ridgebear has an extensive history of domestic violence offenses, including eight arrests related to domestic violence.

In 2017, he was convicted of domestic abuse. Three years later, in 2020, he was convicted of domestic assault with a dangerous weapon.

Because of those prior convictions, Ridgebear qualified as a habitual domestic assault offender under federal law.

Ridgebear will remain in federal custody until he is transferred to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons to begin serving his sentence.
