RULEVILLE, Miss. - A Mississippi man accused of fatally stabbing a woman was captured in Oklahoma just hours after authorities issued a murder warrant for his arrest.

According to the U.S. Marshals Service, Carnelius Hudson, 34, was arrested in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, on Aug. 10, 2026, following a multi-state fugitive investigation.

Woman Found Stabbed to Death

The investigation began on the morning of Aug. 10, when the Ruleville Police Department responded to a call regarding an unresponsive woman at a residence near the 300 block of Oscar Street in Ruleville.

When officers arrived, they found the woman deceased with apparent stab wounds and lacerations.

A few hours later, the Ruleville Police Department obtained a murder warrant charging Hudson in connection with the woman's death.

Multi-State Manhunt Ends in Oklahoma

After the warrant was issued, the Ruleville Police Department requested assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force to locate Hudson.

Investigators determined Hudson had fled Mississippi and traveled to Sallisaw, Oklahoma, prompting the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force to request assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

Later that afternoon, U.S. Marshals located Hudson at a motel in Sallisaw and began surveillance.

Authorities observed Hudson leaving the motel in a vehicle before taking him into custody without incident a short time later.

Hudson was booked into the Sequoyah County Jail, where he is awaiting extradition to Mississippi.

The Ruleville Police Department and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation continue to investigate the homicide.
